Sanger, a Marxist, wrote that her Brooklyn, New York clinic had as its aim: “More children from the fit, less from the unfit—that is the chief issue of birth control.”  In 2020, Planned Parenthood, a successor organization to the Brooklyn clinic, released a statement disavowing Sanger’s eugenicism: “We want to be very clear that we vehemently denounce her ideology that certain people — specifically people of color, people with low incomes, and people with disabilities — should be prevented from having children.”
